				<title>ABSTRACT</title>
				<p>In order to quantify the risks of habitats loss of the Andean lichens due to the global warming projected for the end of the century and the associated upward migration, we carried out lichenological collections at the National Park General Juan Pablo Peñaloza, southwestern Venezuelan Andes. We focus on an elevation gradient from the montane forest (2100–3000 m) to the páramo (3200–3660 m). A total of 104 species and 39 genera were registered, 44 species from the montane forest and 82 species from the páramo. Assuming a projected temperature increase of 2°C by the end of the century, lichen taxa would require an upward displacement of near 363 m a.s.l. If we select the maximum projected temperature increase of 4°C, the upward displacement would represent more than 725 m a.s.l. The results indicate that a total of 64% genera will be threatened by local habitat loss with an increase of ≤2°C, whereas 12.8% genera will conserve their habitat even with an increase in temperature of 4°C; 81.73% species would be threatened of local habitat loss due to an increase of ≤2°C, whereas 92.3% species will be threatened by local extinction with an increase in temperature of ≤4°C. Risk of massive disappearance in both scenarios would be expected.</p>

				<title>RESUMEN</title>

			<title>INTRODUCCIÓN</title>

					Análisis del riesgo de pérdida local de hábitat por desplazamiento altitudinal
				</title>
				<p>Para estimar la desaparición potencial de hábitat se utilizó un análisis simple de desplazamiento de rango altitudinal, siguiendo a Rull et al. (2005), bajo un escenario de incremento de temperatura global de 2-4°C a fin de siglo (<xref
						ref-type="bibr" rid="ref-042-e003">IPCC, 2018</xref>, <xref
						ref-type="bibr" rid="ref-043-e003">2022</xref>). Este análisis consistió en estimar el aumento de temperatura (ΔT) necesario utilizando el descenso adiabático de temperatura de −0.55ºC/100 m altitud, para que el límite altitudinal inferior (LAI) del rango de altitud donde una determinada especie está presente, iguale o supere la altitud máxima de la localidad montañosa o hábitat potencial máximo (HPM), lo que resultaría en la alteración o desaparición total del hábitat altitudinal potencial de la especie en la localidad estudiada. De tal manera, DPH = HPM − LAI, donde DPH es el desplazamiento altitudinal requerido para que la pérdida del hábitat tenga lugar como consecuencia de ΔT. Especies con reducidos rangos de distribución altitudinal y por tanto con mayores requerimientos ambientales específicos, pueden presentar una menor habilidad para expandir sus límites espaciales o hábitats y así ellas podrían ser menos resistentes a los cambios de temperatura que aquellas especies con más amplios rangos de distribución y menores requerimientos ambientales (<xref

			<p>A partir de las técnicas de muestreo aplicadas, se logró un inventario satisfactorio con valores de riqueza superiores al 90% de las especies estimadas por estimadores no paramétricos; los valores esperados fueron muy próximos a la riqueza observada en el área de estudio. <p>En los Andes tropicales y en especial en los Andes de Venezuela, la alta diversidad existente se ve afectada por una reducción drástica de las poblaciones de macrolíquenes impuesta por la alteración antrópica de los bosques y el páramo. Lo apreciamos, por ejemplo, cuando los taxones registrados en el Parque Nacional General Juan Pablo Peñaloza están restringidos o alcanzan su principal distribución en la región de los Andes venezolanos y de Colombia (p. ej. Coccocarpia culatensis, Hypotrachyna lopezii, Lepraria arbuscula var. arbuscula, Stereocaulon novogranatense, Sticta limbata, Umbilicaria calvescens, Usnea bogotensis) o en los casos de endemismo (Bunodophoron portachuelense V. <p>Los riesgos de desaparición de especies por el calentamiento global son mayores en las regiones tropicales que en el subtrópico o Europa. Esta afirmación está basada en estudios a largo plazo los cuales han mostrado que los líquenes de las regiones templadas-calientes europeas o del mediterráneo han incrementado sus rangos de distribución, mientras aquellas especies adaptadas a ambientes específicos fríos o húmedos han disminuido o desaparecido (<xref

			<title>CONCLUSIONES</title>
