An investigation of the algal flora in the Olympic Calm Waters Canoeing Channel was performed during one year. A number of 90 laxa were identified (20 Cyanophyta, 25 Chlcrophyta, 1 Charophyta, 9 Euglenophyta, 31 Chrysophyta, 2 Cryptophyta and 2 Pirrophyta). Morphometric data, descriptions and light microscope photographs of some species are included. Also, scanning electron microscope photographs of diatoms are presented. The floristic composition changes observed during this study related to the improvement of the water quality are discussed. The changes in diatom populations concerning the increase in salinity concentrations are described.
