Morphoanatomic study of achene in the Carduncellus-Carthamus (Asteraceae: Cardueae) complex: application for phylogenetic classification

The morphoanatomical characters of 32 species of the complex Carduncellus-Carthamus and their evolution are studied. Their utility for the generic delimitation of this complex is discussed by comparison with the phylogeny suggested by the sequences of the ribosomal nuclear DNA.
