On checking herbarium material of the genus Gastridium Beauv. in BC (Institut Botànic de Barcelona) and BCN (Universitat de Barcelona) the presence of sheets from Catalonia containing Gastridium phleoides (Nees & Meyen) C. E. Hubb. became manifest.
The species is already known from the southern Iberian Peninsula, but owing to its inclusion within G. ventricosum (Gouan) Schinz & Thell. (G. lendigerum (L.) Desv.) its precise distribution in the rest of the peninsula remains somewhat unclear.
